In the second edition of the Biennale there were 532 artists from 33 countries involved. Sweden is represented for the first time by Ursula Matl. The Biennale is again offering the possibility of exchanging experiences between cultures and is seen as a meeting place for modern art. This year's award of "Lorenzo il Magnifico" went to the poet and art critic Mario Luzi for his career. At the exhibition Mario Luzi also presented his book "Luzi Critico d'Arte."
