The Fourth Biennale in Florence proved to be the most comprehensive exhibition of all since its inception in 1997, thanks to participants of 891 artists from more than 72 countries.

The exhibition hall was filled with thousands of art pieces in all artistic fields. Art that created a spectacular laboratory for global creativity. It was now clear that the Biennale in Florence become something to be reckoned with in the global art world.

The "Lorenzo il Magnifico" went this year to Restoration Laboratories of the Vatican Museums for their unique and ongoing efforts to preserve one of humanity's most important legacies.

A celebration of Ferrari was also demonstrated by giving Ferrari the "Lorenzo il Magnifico" award as a symbol of their Italian creativity and talent that have put Italy on the map for the entire world. During the Biennale some creations of the historic car manufacturer from Maranello was also demonstrated. For example. 125 S, the first Ferrari ever 1947: 250LM for their first vehicle with the engine in the rear which became epoch-making 1963: the famous racing car F40 from 1987 and Enzo Ferrari – the super car produced in only 399 copies from 2002.

David Hockney, one of the world's most famous artists in the modern art was one of the exhibitors during the Biennale. He was awarded "Lorenzo il Magnifico" for his career.

It also paid tribute to Alfredo Zalce (1908 - 2003) the last Mexican mural painter by showing his art, and also give him the "Lorenzo il Magnifico" for his career.

Sweden was represented by the following artists: Markus Andersson, Ramiz Bellanius, Luis Deza, Leonardo Di Michelly, Ann-Charlott Fornhed, Peter Gadh, Tomas Ivarsson, Carin Jadesol, Sergej Jakovlev, Hans Johansson, Evert Jonsson, Anette Kozica, Tord Stock, Janola Lundström , Ann-Mari Nilsson, Ivo Perelman, Sigrid Sennström, Alexandrine Van Duijn, Zolicar Zijo.

Markus Andersson was given the Magnus Laurentius di Medici award in the category painting.
