Via Firenze Sweden is a group of Swedish-related artists who participated in the Florence Biennale 2007, resident in Sweden or abroad. Some of us were born in Sweden, others have moved here for various reasons, a few have chosen to settle abroad, but what we have in common is that we represented Sweden at the Biennale in Florence in 2007.

We want to be a group that takes the art forward, moves the people forward to create a better condition for the world. We believe that we can give attention to the modern art in Sweden. The experiences we had during the days in Florence, in the meeting with an entire art world, we want more to be able to benefit from.

During the Biennale and the meetings that took place between the artists a desire was revealed to start a group that could make exhibitions together and market the Biennale in Sweden.

The raw model for the group was the Dutch Biennale Group dFBa (http://www.dfba.nl) who took part and was very visible during the nine days the Biennale was held.

Sietze Groenewold from Holland who in 2007 moved to Sweden became the driving force that brought us together and saw that our desire was born.

It was also Sietze that during a visit at Gallery Cosmopolitan in Gothenburg made arrangements for our first group exhibition in October 2008 at that gallery.
